LDC02 - Light Duty Crane
This training program is designed to provide safety training for light duty cranes and boom trucks that do not fall under the provincial apprenticeship program for Cranes and Hoisting Equipment Operator. (Mobile Cranes less than 15 tons/13.6 tonnes, Boom trucks less than 5 tons/ .5 tons, articulated booms (knuckle booms) up to 7.8 imperial tons without a winch line. Information will also be included in this course to prepare for the Assessment at the BC Crane Association. Participants will learn and demonstrate the safe operating practices and procedures for the safe operation and inspection of light duty cranes and boom trucks and the rigging hardware associated with them. Required: Minimum age requirement of 18 years; Valid Government issued Driver’s License, Alberta Learner’s Permit or a valid class 5 out of Province License; Equipment they operate daily; Proof of inspection of light duty crane or hoist (must be within the last 12 months); Proof of insurance for the equipment; Operator’s manual for the hoisting device; Equipment log book; Rigging equipment (slings, shackles, etc.); Cargo tie down equipment; 50 or 100 foot measuring tape; Tire pressure gauge; 2’ or 4’ level; Coveralls or a long-sleeved shirt and long pants, Class ‘A’ steel-toe footwear; Hard hat and safety glasses; Hearing protection; Leather gloves; Equipment they operate daily
