CPR03 - Basic Life Support (BLS) Recert
Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. It is designed for healthcare professionals and trained first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of settings, and teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in pre-hospital and in-facility settings. The Heart & Stroke BLS course offers: • The latest resuscitation science for improved patient outcomes • Realistic scenarios, simulations and animations depicting rescuers, teams and patients • Course and content flexibility for Heart & Stroke instructors and students, including adaptability to local protocols Intended Audience: The Heart & Stroke BLS course is designed for healthcare professionals and trained first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of both in-facility and prehospital settings or by those that require BLS certification and CPR training to enter into a healthcare-related training program Required: Valid Government issued Driver’s License, Alberta Learner’s Permit or a valid class 5 out of Province License. Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Heart & Stroke Certificate If you have a Basic Life Support Certificate from a different provider other than Heart & Stroke, it is required that you complete the Basic Life Support (BLS) Renewal Prerequisite Challenge prior to enrolling in the Basic Life Support (BLS) Recertification course Link to BLS Renewal Prerequisite Challenge: https://resuscitation.heartandstroke.ca/resources/other/bls_training Each student will be required to purchase the eBook for the 2020 Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider course (it is not included in the tuition cost). Students will have to bring a smartphone or tablet to the course with the eBook downloaded for their access. Manuals will not be available in class.
